With the band’s second release, The Well Between Continents (Oct 2021), each of the members contributed creatively to the effort.  Frontman Tim Brecht’s writing style has drifted back toward the indie rock side of the spectrum, and with the contributions from other members, Gentleman Speaker has carved themselves out a unique and recognizable style on the indie rock/power pop spectrum, which is distinctly their own, and they have injected new energy into their already magnetic live performances.

Brat Sounds:

Since 2014, Brat Sounds has been writing, producing and recording tongue-in-cheek slacker rock that examines the absurdity of the human condition. A quintessential Midwestern rock band, all four members are Wisconsin natives with strong ties to Milwaukee’s creative community. While they’re inspired by artists like Weezer, Tom Petty and Eliot Smith, their eclectic sound can be hard to pinpoint. 88.9 Radio Milwaukee describes the band as “power pop punk rock… that bears it all” while Milwaukee Record says their sound is “snarky but sentimental… frantic and fuzzed out.”
