This is Chicken Wire Empire’s first Milwaukee appearance since New Year’s Eve at the Pabst Theatre, and since the official release of their sophomore album, “What Moves Mountains” on January 1st.
On “What Moves Mountains,” Milwaukee Record wrote “…the local bluegrass mainstay manages to traverse new territory, give exciting new life to a few songs from other artists, and mix impressive musicianship and compelling narratives…”
Chicken Wire Empire began as a 4 piece traditional bluegrass band. After years of honing their trad skills, and performing an Old & In The Way tribute show, CWE realized that there was more to bluegrass than only 1, 4, and 5. Now Chicken Wire Empire blends old with new, and after gathering a following in Milwaukee, WI, enjoy playing throughout the region with their new quintet, while promoting their new album “What Moves Mountains.” Featuring Ryan Ogburn (mandolin), Jordan Kroeger (upright bass), Ernest Brusubardis IV (fiddle), Greg Brundage (guitar), and Jon Peik (banjo), Chicken Wire Empire will take you on a journey through space and time, or at least help you escape for a moment.
